Moro and Shewchuk Qualify for Ontario Championships
Just like last year, Jack Moro (Whitewater GC) has qualified for the 100th Ontario Men's Amateur Championship by winning today's qualifier presented by the Half-Way Motors Group. Jack's score of 72 was good enough for a two-shot victory over Cooper Anderson (Fort William CC) and Matthew Cho-Chu (Thunder Bay CC). Jack played his last six holes under par to secure the win. Jack is a three-time District Junior champion. The 100th Ontario Men's Amateur Championship will be played on July 12-15, 2022 at the Scarboro Golf and Country Club in Scarborough.
In the Mid-Amateur Division, also presented by the Half-Way Motors Group, Brett Shewchuk (Centennial Pines GC) cruised to victory. After a wayward start, Brett quickly recovered and held a four-shot lead after nine holes. He doubled that lead on the back nine. Brett is a three-time District Amateur champion. The Ontario Men's Mid-Amateur Championship will be played on June 21-23, 2022 at Spring Lakes Golf Club in Whitchurch-Stouffville.
